Video Marketing is Hot, Great & Useful, BUT…

Seems a lot of the marketers are using videos now to bring you the latest & greatest, show you tips & techniques, amongst the many other uses for this latest fad in technology.

Thats all fine & dandy. Video is GREAT! Heck of a lot better than reading an entrepreneur article, and more receptive than an audio. However, what I think some of these “producers” are failing to realize, is that these are WAY too long! Just in the past month or so, via “guru” mail, there has been at least 20 different people saying “Hey, come check out this wiz-bang new video I have about {insert gadget here}.”

Now don’t get me wrong, some of these truly are useful information, and within a reasonable length, but come on! Some of these are over an hour long!! Does it really take that long to explain it? Besides, do you think we have an hour to watch you rant on about your stuff… when we have 19 other people who want us to watch THEIR 1 hour presentations as well?

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I surely don’t have an extra 20 hours JUST to watch all these! Let alone decide which ones are good enough to use, then sign up for them and put them into action. I’ve got a business to run! So that leaves you with picking and choosing which ones you THINK are best to view. Video Producers, here’s a tip: you want me to watch your video - make it SHORT & to the point! If we’re genuinely interested, we can always sign up to your list to get more info (or maybe watch more of YOUR videos AFTER we decide your first one is interesting enough).

That goes for the newest “packages” that are being pumped out left and right too. I’ve seen sales deals where you can learn a new skill, technique, method, etc., and they advertise them as You get “10 Videos!” so you can properly learn this doo-dad! Well, thats all good and well, and sounds appealing from a buying aspect, assuming you are ACTUALLY going to watch the 10 hours that are included in this set. But will you? Or will you just watch the first 2 or 3 then put it aside for now & never get around to finishing them?

How about the REAL tremendous “deals” you can purchase: you know, that set that’s available that has like 12 different subjects within, and EACH subject has 10 or 12 videos included? Sure! Seems like a terrific buy for $79.97! After all, you’re receiving 100 videos!

If I remember correctly, when I added up the amount of hours it would take you to watch ALL 100 of them, assuming you actually DID do that, and also assuming that you spent 24/7 constantly doing so - no problem! You’d be done in 4 months time!! LOL! Yes, I realize no ones going to spend 4 months glued to their computer screen checking these out in that manner. Point being, honestly, WHEN are you going to have time to watch all these? Yes, you could spread it out and watch (and hopefully finish) them one topic at a time. Even if it takes you all year to do it. BUT, at the end of the year, when you are getting ready to finally watch that last set of videos, are the methods they teach in that STILL going to be effective? With the way the internet changes so rapidly, I highly doubt it!

So the next time you see that “super” buy for 80 bucks, take a minute to think HOW super it really is if you never use it! Not so good of a “deal” now, if you only get to put into use just ONE tactic from ALL of those. Well, perhaps the tactic could turn out to be just what you’ve been waiting for, but what I mean is it’s a waste to be buying 10 different methods (video sets) for 80 bucks, when you could just buy the one you like best for $50 or less. Save that other 30 bucks that you think is “just a little more” to add in to “get them all.” You really don’t need them all. You’ll never benefit from them all because you won’t have the time to review them all.

Sure, you’re thinking that, well, I’ll buy them all and if one method doesn’t work, then you can just move on to the next & give that one a go (etc., etc.). Yeah, like thats going to happen. More realistically, a month from now, when you get done “trying out” the methods from the first videos, and if they don’t work, one of 2 things will happen:

1. you’ll probably believe the other ones won’t work either.

2. The next “greatest thing” will have been released, to which you will more than likely jump on that… and totally forget about the rest of all those videos you bought the first time around!

See what I mean? So just save the time & your money right now & make a decision on which one will work for you, or which one will you actually be able to utilize to its full potential.

Now, if you’re reselling products, thats a totally different story, but I’m mainly speaking from just a “Learn from them” stance. I sometimes think NONE of the resellers actually EVER watch more than just the original promo videos for these items. After all, how could they afford to spend the numerous hours required to do so, when they’re too busy making their “millions” from their own businesses? (Oh yeah, ;-) sorry, forgot, they all have 650,000 people in their opt-in lists & it only takes them 10 minutes a day to whip out a new email for their next hot-selling product! So being that thats the way they make their dough {you know, the money is in the list}, and thats the only thing they have to do all day long, they’ve got all the time in the world to watch videos!)

Moral of the story:

Buyers: THINK about how much time you actually have to watch the strategies being presented. Make a choice. Then purchase only that one… and NO more.

Sellers: Make your initial promo vids SHORT. Give us a break, we have enough stuff to do already without compiling more on top of it.

Buyers/watchers: if you think you can multi-task WHILE watching these videos, you’re probably going to miss some important details.

Sellers: With the viewers multi-tasking because they really don’t have the time to watch your hour long video, they WILL be missing out on listening to some of the details of your offer… thus… when its over, they won’t buy because they weren’t fully paying attention in the first place! You could have solved that problem with a brief 5-10 minute presentation that would probably have been fully watched & fully payed attention to!

Buyers & Sellers: If you ARE multi-tasking, that means you AREN’T really “watching” the vids! So, why in the heck are videos such a rage if no one is watching them, but rather just “listening” to them???? Isn’t that what audio is for???

Let me hear what YOU think about this!
