If you haven’t heard, video websites are the “in” thing now.  You know, first there were static pages, then flash sites, now it’s videos.

Ok, so we decided to put up some of these HOT commodities to see what all the fuss was about.  The script/program for accomodating this costs like ten bucks (Youtube Video Site Generator).

It actually takes no time at all to put up a website.  In fact, it took me only a couple hours to put up about 20 of these sites.  And that includes the time spent getting new domains, setting them up, etc.  My webhost is REALLY fast with propagation! 

Of course, some of the sites are made using only the script given (travel videos - science videos - entertainment videos - celebrity videos) and some of the others were made by adding on a separate “homepage” since I wanted to break down the categories a bit more (spooky videos - car videos - sports videos - pet videos).

You can fully monetize these websites using any type of affiliate programs that you prefer.  They’re also good for Adsense and Amazon, which are pre-built into the templates that the program comes with.  If you have no experience with video websites, let me tell you, these are REALLY nice.  You can literally put up one website in less than 5 minutes!  Of course, thats with no modifications at all (adsense & amazon is standard).  You just type in a few things like your URL, google adsense & amazon account numbers, your keywords or tags & upload it all using the built-in FTP.  Thats it, it’s really simple.

I’ve had these websites up for about 2 weeks now, and other than submitting them to the search engines, I haven’t done any promotion of them.

Results so far?  The sites without the extra homepages are making about 20 cents a day each via adsense (some a bit more, some a bit less, this is an average).  The sites that I added on the homepage are bringing in 50-60 cents a day.  That’s not huge money, but remember that I haven’t even started promoting them yet!  Amazon income is zero, but they ARE getting clicked on per the analytics at the amazon site.  According to google’s count, the sites with homepages are also getting about 5 times the amount of hits that the ones that don’t have them are!  Could be because these are more popular topics however.

For extra linking power, if you visit any of the sites listed above, you will notice I have linked them all together on every single page of every single site.  You would be surprised at how many people have gone thru one of these sites, then go visit A LOT of the other ones listed too!  Via this linking, ALL of these sites got indexed within 3 days!  :)   I know this to be true, as I didn’t submit all of the websites to the search engines, only some of them.

Realize however, that the “tags” you add on these sites (they are at the top left on the pages) do NOT get indexed (either that or mine just haven’t been yet).  I think they are more or less just for your visitors use, which isn’t a bad deal, since that gets you more website hits, and the possibility of someone clicking an extra adsense ad or seeing some other link you have embedded.

All in all, video websites do seem to attract a lot of attention.  Whether the money is going to follow along…. is yet to be fully determined.

Do you know what the main purpose of a social networking website is?  If you are an avid internet user, you likely do. Social networking websites are online communities that make it easier for internet users to meet and communicate with each other.  If you are an internet user who enjoys using the internet to meet new people, there is a good chance that you already belong to a social networking website.

That content is then used to rank your website with particular keywords.  This means that you run a blog on graduating from high school in New York, there is a good chance that your blog will appear in searches done on New York high schools. Although many blogs are successfully ranked in search engines, not all are. That is why you are advised against relying solely on search engines, when it comes to promoting your blog.

As previously mentioned, if you love meeting with or talking to people online, there is a good chance that you belong to a social networking website or community. The individuals that you talk to and that are in your community are likely the individuals that you wish to target. Since most social networking websites work to connect internet users who have the same goals and common interests, there is a good chance that your online friends will enjoy reading your blog.  But, before they can read your blog, you have to let them know that it exists. 

When it comes to promoting your blog on social networking websites, you have a number of different options. Your first option is to include a link to your blog in your community profile or profile page. This will allow other community members to checkout your blog, only if they wish to do so.  The other way is to inform your online friends of your blog through private messages. Once you join a social networking website and create or join a network of friends, you should easily be able to communicate with those friends.  Sending each of your friends a private message with information and a link to your blog tends to be more effective than just placing a link in your profile or on your profile page.

Although there is a good chance that you are already a member of a popular social networking website, you may not be. If you are not already a member, but would like to become one, you will need to find a social networking website to join. This can easily be done with a standard internet search. In your search, you will likely find a number of popular network sites, such as MySpace, Facebook, FriendFinder, Yahoo! 360, and Orkut.  Before becoming a community member at one of these networking sites, you may want to first examine the website to ensure that it is everything that you want it to be.

As you can easily see, there are a number of different ways that you can go about promoting your blog on online social networking websites. You never know, but, in addition to promoting your blog, you may also make new friends along the way.
